There are at least six great reasons to make crafts for Christmas gifts this year for the people you really care about. Let me list them for you and then discuss each one:

1. You can make each gift as inexpensive or as pricey as you like.
2. The gift you make is from the heart. It's made from your loving hands for someone special.
3. Crafts for Christmas involve fun to do crafts and hobbies.
4. Your gifts can be customized for that special someone to fit in with their personal collections or interests.
5. Creating crafts for Christmas demonstrates your skills and talents in a creative and unique way.
6. When you create crafts for Christmas you are making something special that no one else can do the same way.

Make Each Craft Gift for Christmas as Inexpensive or as Pricey as You Like

When thinking about making crafts for Christmas, you may conjure up mental images of cheesy useless things you crafted as a kid that your parents gushed over for a few minutes and then you never saw it again. Things that have macaroni noodles on them, for example.

The crafts for Christmas gifts I'm talking about can be made of quality arts & crafts materials or decorated in semi-precious stones, gems, gold leaf, or whatever material you feel comfortable working with. Take a storage box for example; here is something most everyone has a use for whether it's for jewelry, coins, buttons, sewing essentials, tapes, or whatever.

Back in my day you could make anything with a cigar box but you can't find them around so easily anymore. However you can pick up an inexpensive wooden box with a brass hinge in many sizes from very small to relatively large, like a sewing box, and you can decorate it with any number of clever crafts. For Christmas, the ideas are really endless.

You can cover the box in fabulously expensive material which won't cost much because you'll get it as a remnant in an upholstery shop. While you're there you can pick up some brass tacks in various sizes for trim and any other decorative items in small quantities you know you will use.

Materials for covering and personalizing a box for a special someone can cost from a few cents to as many dollars as you want to spend. If creating the most beautiful box or the most suitable box for the person is the mission, then the sky is the limit.

The Gift You Make is from the Heart

Crafts for Christmas presents are very personal gifts because the maker puts in a lot of time, thought, and effort into creating a gift especially for someone else. While you may cringe when you think of getting yet another cable knit sweater from Aunt Maggie, she has thought of you with click of her knitting needles.

If you examine her work you will find her sweater is really beautiful, I’m sure. You have one-of-a-kind treasures from someone special to you. She took your measurements or someone got them for her; she bought enough materials, and got the best she could afford in a color she is sure you would like. And she knows where you live so the sweaters are made to keep you warm enough in a fashionable design made to look good on you.

The sweaters she makes for you and your family are made with love and thoughtfulness no matter how irascible the character doing the knitting. A piece of Aunt Maggie is always with you when you wear one of her creations. You can show your gratitude by wearing her gifts at least once a year when you see her and that will complete the circle of giving.

Crafts for Christmas Involve Fun to do Crafts and Hobbies

The really cool thing about doing crafts for Christmas presents for people you really care about is that you get to do something fun involving crafts or hobbies that you are sure to enjoy! There are so many crafts available to choose from that anyone should be able to find something they enjoy doing and in which they have skills or talents.

Many of us have been doing some form of crafts since childhood and find comfort, relaxation, and a sense of satisfaction when we start or complete a project in a hobby we love. The whole family can get together once a week to gather round the kitchen table and craft lovely and thoughtful gifts to give relatives and friends.

Fun is found in thinking of the gift idea, making it, finishing it, and finally giving it to our chosen recipient with both pride and love. Fun is seeing the look of pleasure cross their faces when they see what we have made for them this year. But of course we can have fun making gag gifts too.

When creating crafts for Christmas gifts, the maker is in complete control of every aspect of the finished product from materials used, design, shape, size, color, and function. When someone special needs a storage container, for example, there is a lot of joy found in creating a storage container specifically for the intended recipient.

Giving crafts for Christmas gifts lets you to take what you know about the individual who is to receive the present and customize your gift so that it will blend into the recipient's life and be treasured forever. Of course your crafts for Christmas gifts could be intended for humor or a gag gift too. The choice is totally yours and either way the gift will be remembered for a very long time.

It's one thing to talk about what we love to do and quite another to make a gift of it. If you love woodworking, for example, you can make a lovely gift from a simple project well done. Your skills and talents shine through when you are doing something you enjoy and your gifts will demonstrate both your talents and your affection for the recipients.

My father-in-law made wooden pull trains for our children many years ago in his basement workshop. The little trains were made of pine with simple shapes and big wheels. There was an engine and a caboose and the rest of the trains consisted of the children's names spelled out with one letter per flatcar. The trains were painted in each child's favorite colors and very sturdy. These wooden toys have become heirlooms and are put out each Christmas as a remembrance of Grandpa and his love of family.

Your Crafts for Christmas Are Unique Like No One Else Can Make

Because we are all individuals and we all have our own unique way of doing things, when we make crafts for Christmas gifts they are unlike anything else our special people will receive. No matter if ten people make ten different wooden storage boxes for the same person, all are sure to be unique in design, materials, finish, color, size, and possibly shape.

The thing that makes crafts for Christmas presents so special is that they allow us to give something not only from our wallets, but also from our hearts, our creativity, our thoughtfulness, and our understanding of some aspect of the people we really care about.
